Incredible!

The 30th deGUT seems to be just a few weeks ago while the 31st deGUT just ended and the next edition already got fixed for 7th + 8th October in 2016. Before the exhibition goes into the next round, it is time for a short review.

After the recent considerations of the Berlin Senate to accommodate refugees in Hangar 2 at Flughafen Tempelhof (former Tempelhof Airport), we took the initiative and moved from our usual and well-known exhibition hall Hangar 2 to an to date unknown territory - Hangar 7. After initial skepticism, we ended up beeing more than content with the outcome.

Organized by the Investment Bank Berlin (IBB) and the Investment Bank of Brandenburg (ILB) the exhibition offered for almost 6,000 visitors on two days:

* about 130 exhibitors
* cumulative knowledge and advice
* in the subjects of financing, insurance issues, funding, marketing, sales, legal matters, human resources and ...
* everything else which is subject for building up one's own business.

The comprehensive seminar and workshop programme contributed again to beeing one of the most important fairs throughout Germany capturing a wide range of themes in the field of entrepreneurship and setting up business. An overview of all seminars and the oral presentations is still available for insights at http://www.degut.net/downloads/deGUT-Seminarprogramm.pdf.

The thematic focus of this years deGUT was the digitization of the economy and how it can be used for the development and expansion of business models. deGUT representatives talked about their success stories. Among them Markus Witte, the founder of Babbel. Other highlights of the exhibition were the opening of the Business Plan Competition Berlin-Brandenburg, the Speed Dating with the Business Angels e.V. and speeches at which founders talked about their failures and the resultant experience value gathered through starting their own business. The promotion of exchange with other founders as well as networking with potential business partners and customers has been supported this year by the location-based social networking and communication platform HYPH which is a startup company itself.

The deGUT is sponsored by the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Technology and Research and the Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy of the State of Brandenburg. Its patron is the Federal Minister of Economy and Energy, Sigmar Gabriel.
